Anti-Sway bar questions, can anyone help?

I was wondering, does anyone know what the stock size is for the anti-sway bars front and rear on an '87 Z28 305 TPI are? Also, does anyone know if the 36mm front / 24mm rear Spohn sway bars are solid or hollow? If I change the front sway bar, would it be good to get a 'wonder bar' while I'm at it?

..not sure, but if the Z28 is like the WS6, then it probably does have the 36 front. The factory bar is hollow, Steve will have to answer for him.

The 'wonderbar' is a nice addition, when you can findem'.

I just remembered, how much will spohn sway bars and panhard affect the handling characteristics of a mostly stock car? I guy I know was saying how if he put 24mm sway bars in his '02 Impreza it would make it roll over easily since it would stiffen it so much, would it be the same in my case or do the sway bars not effect our cars that much? I probably wouldn't be driving that hard anyway. Also, is there anyplace I can get a 'wonder bar' new, or do I have to find one in a scrap/junk yard? There is this place that specializes in Camaro's and Firebirds that I can go to, how much do you think it would cost? I'd really prefer to get one new, is that possible? Thanks.

Your buddy with the Impreza doesn't seem to know exactly how swaybars (also known as "antiroll bars") work.

Basicaly, larger, stiffer bars reduce body roll, preventing a detrimental change in suspension geometry, while also preventing roll over.
This reduction in body roll increases the likelyhood that the car will slide.
A set of bars that is too stiff for the application will cause sliding because not enough of the cars weight rolls onto the outside tires to plant them.
The idea is to have a set that has enough roll to plant the outside tires, but not so much as to make the car unstable, or to change suspension geometry too much.
It is also important to balance the front and rear bar as much as you can if maximum handling is the goal.

You can get see more on swaybar basics in this post: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hlight=swaybar and here: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hlight=swaybar

You can see most of the third generation F body available sizes and their appplications on this post: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...threadid=59687
