Red or Black LCA and PHB?

Hi,

This is a pure opinion question. Last Fall, I did the entire front end rebuild and replaced the rear sway bar and end links. This Spring it's time for the LCA's and PHB. I'll replace the stockers with tubular members.

I'm asking for opinions here as this is cosmetic only. Which do you prefer: red or black? When I redid the front everything was painted black and when I replaced the rear sway bar I freshened up the black.

The poly ends of the rear sway and links are red.

To help make your case, feel free to include pictures :-)

Thanks!

Black. The underside of the car should blend together. I don't like parts being odd colors and sticking out, looks tacky

Black, of course. Everything under the car should just disappear into the shadows.

Re: Red or Black LCA and PHB?

Everyone knows that red parts add more horsepower. And stickers.

Re: Red or Black LCA and PHB?

Red looks retarded. Energy Suspension's black bushings are graphite impregnated, the red aren't for obvious reasons. Did I mention red looks retarded?

In the interests of full disclosure.... I got the red out of my system on my Mustang. It's got Sunrise red sway bars, and brake calipers. No reason really, I just figured if I was cleaning up the used parts, and making a significant upgrade (4cyl stuff to 5.0L stuff) I figured I should make it obvious for the fan boys. Mustangs are retarded so it works there.

Re: Red or Black LCA and PHB?

Since I'm tacky and retarded and since I want more horsepower (thinking about adding stickers too), well, you guessed it, I like red.

Re: Red or Black LCA and PHB?

To be fair, I have a lot of red parts on my TA. I like the contrast between the red and black. To each their own.

Underneath should not attract the eye. Our cars have good lines, nothing should distract.

I'll take red suspension parts over cheesy body kits, weird hood scoops, 1970's flame paintjobs, plasti-dipped rims, and big ole dumb looking rims any day of the week

Re: Red or Black LCA and PHB?

I realize that the car is butt ugly and I know that the red beneath, as you can so clearly see for yourself, is obviously a monumental distraction and even greater eyesore—but all's cool because the old guy is...well, a butt-ugly eyesore too.

If you don't plan on crawling under there and washing red parts, I would suggest black.

Re: Red or Black LCA and PHB?

Simple question and answer- When do you ever see shiney red parts all underneath a proper race car? Never. Colored suspension links are for show car people who want to try and show off what teh experienced eye already sees. You don;t see them on a Ferrari, Lambo, or Porsche street car for that matter either. Why? part quality under the car speaks for itself if you actually know what you are looking at...just a tip for rookies.

Mine too (Profile pic) LOL

Those are my velcro hightop ankle straps undone and hanging, Gene Simons eat your heart out.

Seriously though on subject, to each their own like said, but I tend to just coat everything corrosive with black epoxy paint so it does not rust and call it a day- otherwise it would't even get that. I also have the rare opinion that cars are ment to be driven no matter how rare etc...waste to have a car sit there when it was built to do a job- so thus I am of opinion looks only goes so far and more focus on function.

No matter what the event (racing wise) nothing is beneath me and I try and lead by example. I will always grab a broom and go out and prep a track sweeping marbles and rocks off it 1) to get better grip, and 2) for topic sake, reduces the chance of those nasty apron paint chips

Re: Red or Black LCA and PHB?

Oh how appropriate is this photo? (under carraige wise and shoe wise...oh the irony)
This was one of my Rookie NASCAR drivers. I would send him under the truck to wipe down the undercarriage getting all the tire rubber and grime off the car so it stayed clean- he also learned to tug and push on things while he was under there to make sure he knew his car was mechanically sound and learned every inch of it. Most drivers now days can not turn a wrench if their life depended on it. As a racing note- often times you will see the engine block painted a bright color only because it will make a leak stand out.

Re: Red or Black LCA and PHB?

A couple of guys wrote "kill me" on my buddies shoes for his wedding.

There were quite a few chuckles as he was kneeling in the front of the church during the ceremony.
