The preceding three stooges aside, Lowering a thirdgen with drop springs is a bad idea unless you are willing to correct all of the the suspension angles you just ruined. The cost of correcting everything would probably be around $1000.

If you really want to lower the car I would replace the springs with factory spec Moog springs and replace the front ball joints with a set of extended ball joints which would lower you 1/2-1" depending on the set you go with. You will still need to replace the strut mount with an aftermarket raised strut mount and aftermarket struts meant for reduced travel though. For the rear you could cut a coil from the spring to get around an inch drop but you will then need to at least buy rear lower control arm relocation brackets. Need to buy aftermarket shocks for the rear as well as an adjustable panhard rod also.

Re: Thoughts on Moog Springs

I replaced both front and rear a year ago with Moog OEM rate springs. The fronts had been cut to lower the car by a previous owner...I wasn’t sure I was going to be happy with the Moog replacement. A year later, I’m glad I did. I’d recommend also while the ball joints are separated for the front spring replacement, go ahead and replace them, too.

Re: Thoughts on Moog Springs

A shop I was working with had mentioned to me that the springs for verts and non-verts are different and that the OEM rate vert springs were almost impossible to find. Is that true or was he full of you know what?

Re: Thoughts on Moog Springs

I don’t know about the convertible rates..but I do recall reading when the convertible was introduced, it weighed the same as the Coupe...that massive rear glass was heavy!

i would be surprised if the spring rates were dramatically different.

Re: Thoughts on Moog Springs

AFAIK the springs for both body styles are the same. The convertibles and coupes do weigh about the same. Sounds like BS to me.

Moog CC635 for the rear, 5662 for the front. New shocks & struts at the same time.
