This Isn't Factory, Is it?

While throwing a new servo into the 700R4 I was looking for a spot to jack the car up and noticed the poly attachment point, which I know isn't factory. That sway bar seems REALLY beefy for a stock unit. Am I just ignorant?

Poly endlinks were standard with uplevel suspension. Looks like your centerlink, idler arm and endlinks have been changed out. I'm guessing you have a WS6, 350 car?

Interesting - wouldn't have expected poly - its a '91 Z28 w/ the 350.

(I'm a formula guy) Formulas got them standard in 87 through 92, not sure when it came about for Camaros.

Right - I've always had GTAs. Assuming since the IROC went away the Z28 may have got the benefits of the better suspension. Didn't notice a Wonder Bar though. Oh well, guess I'll have to throw some more UMI stuff under it.

Re: This Isn't Factory, Is it?

In my limited experience I've not seen coated hardware and nylock nuts on factory offerings...

Re: This Isn't Factory, Is it?

The end links are aftermarket, I have the same ones they they came with the kit from sphon (though I'm sure they are a common brand) -- Also my 89 formula with WS6 but not 1LE did not have factory red poly end links they were black and I'm pretty sure they are rubber.

The sway bar is a ws6 factory piece,

Steering linkages are aftermarket and more than likely from Advanced or Autozone. The pit-man arm is factory part.

FWIW Polyurethane was invented in WW2 as a natural rubber replacement, but it didn't quite have the right properties as it was to hard.

Re: This Isn't Factory, Is it?

The end links look just like the Energy Suspension links on my IROC....my originals were completely rotten, and had to be replaced shortly after I bought my car.

Yup, the factory used yellow from at least 87, maybe earlier, then blue around 90?

My 90 had blue ones.
They dry rotted and were crumbling with 28k on the car

Red poly endlinks are really common. It used to be that if you went into any chain auto-parts store, and bought the HD endlinks you got red poly bushings and yellow zinc plated hardware. I'm sure I still have at least enough of them leftover to outfit all four corners of a car.
