steering box

right now i have 2 thirdgens. my daily driver is an 87 camaro sc (v6), and my toy/project is an 85 trans am. im rebuilding the engine in the trans am so its just sitting in my yard doing nothing til spring. my question is, is there a difference in the ratios in the two steering gearboxes? im thinking about putting the trans am box in the camaro for now if it will give me quicker steering, but if it wont change much, im not gonna bother. can anyone give me some advice?
btw, the trans am isnt a WS6

The only way to find out is to try them out; either in their respective cars, or to swap them. It's a pretty easy job; only takes a couple hours if you have a tie-rod puller (to seperate the centerlink from the Pitman arm) and line wrenches for the power steering hoses (using open-end wrenches or crescent wrenches are about 60% likely to round off the fittings).

It's definitely a worthwhile mod. I have the steering box from an 85 Z-28 Indy Pace Car in my RS, and it gave it a much sportier feel than the RS came with.

since you don't have WS6 option then it won't feel like much of a difference.
