Brake Pads

What brake pads (and shoes, too) would you recommend. I am looking for something w/o a lot of dust, and w/o a lot of squeak, preferably.
Also, would it be worth it to replace old iron drums (rear) with new ones?

There are a lot of good brake pad manufactures out there and they all usually have different grades of pads, from inexpensive to the better performing. They usually will give a description of the charicteristics of each pad. The more expensive pads will generally include the more desirable such as longer life, quieter, and less dust. I'm sure any parts store can help you in your decision. As far as replaceing the drums it's not necessary unless they have worn beyond legal specs. You can usually take them to any parts store that is equiped to turn rotors and drums. When you take them in they will measure them and if they are worn below legal specs then they cannot turn them for you and you will have to get new ones. If they are good then have them turn the drums. Turning drums and rotors is when they put it on a machine that shaves a nice new flat service, it basically takes as little material off as possiable so that your new pads will break in properly.

sorry you made it sound like you were going to replace them with iron. I'm not sure if they really out perform iron, but one things for sure they will cut down on weight.

My IROC has aluminum drums on it now and I cannot find replacements for them. I can only find Iron drums. You might get lucky in a junk yard?
