rear spring insulators/isolators

I bought a 1992 camaro z28 a few months ago and am slowly fixing it up (didn't run and needs lots of work). The rear springs are Hotchkis 19930016. I'm looking to replace the rubber isolators (upper and lower). I believe these are the original isolators. Anyone know where I can purchase replacements?

The top are original, the bottom aren't. There wasn't anything between the springs and perches from the factory.

Heater hose + razor blade is about the only game in town.

Heater hose? I've seen this mentioned before. Can you provide more details, please?

Slice it lengthwise, slip it over the coil, tape or zip tie to retain. In all honesty, the uppers have probably been in that condition for 20 years and are still doing the job the were designed to do in that condition.

Im giving these a try on my car. If you know anyone doing a lift kit on the new 2018 and up jeep JL wrangler, they have these grey rubbery plastic isolater's on the factory springs. Its kinda the same thing as cutting the hose, but its already split and made the right size. Theyre working so far on my car. Not sure how long theyll last, but i didnt spend any money on them and thought id give em a try.

interesting I would of thought the rubber isolator would have started at the first coil from the bottom not the second coil. I suppose that’s so the spring can slip onto the perch with out any issues as the isolator might prevent it from fitting. You could probably get the isolators from mopar parts I would imagine also but likely at a premium over heater hose.

Re: rear spring insulators/isolators

If you like the current height, clean & reinstall the uppers.
Toss the lowers.

If you want the car lower, replace the upper with a piece of heater hose.

Be sure to orient the springs the same way with respect to the lower perch so height is same side to side.

No need to spend money on unnecessary stuff.

Re: rear spring insulators/isolators

The heater hose goes in place of the upper if you wish to lower the car some.
Do not use both.

Nothing goes on the lower side.

Re: rear spring insulators/isolators

Ok guys I need some help! 1987 iroc, jacked car up from.the pumpkin in rear to paint drums, to put new wheela/tires on. As my jack does leak down, I put Jack stands under to prevent from goin all way to.floor. I positioned the stands at the end of the panhard bar, now the pass side sits an inch lower than driver side! Any ideas what may have happened?

have you driven it since? You probably just compressed the suspension and the panhard bar shoved the rear over forcing it to squat on one side.

Re: rear spring insulators/isolators

How can I figure out if that is what happened? Nothing appears to be bent out of shape! If so, is there any way to.fix that

Re: rear spring insulators/isolators

Im sure its possible, but id say unlikely you bent the panhard bracket. But if you bent it that far im sure you could visually see it. You might just check your springs are seated properly. And or try taking off your shocks to make sure you don't have a bad shock holding it up, and or check your control arm bushings to make sure theres not a bad one causing it to sag on one side. Or. Make sure you didn't pop the sway bar bracket up on the diff and have the sway bar holding tension on the car. Just a few things to check
