I'm in the middle of a rear-end re-build/upgrade and I need 4 bolts to complete the job. I'm sure I could probably sit there with my trusty bucket of bolts and find a few that fit - but I had to ask here before starting that proccess.

The Brakes are 89 & up 12" rear disks and the parts I need are the 4 Caliper-to-Backing plate bolts.

The rear end is an 1988 9-bolt Borg Warner & the brake upgrade is from an 89 9-bolt rear end. I CHANGED THE BACKING PLATES to be the correct ones for the 12" 9-bolt !!!! ( I also had new 3.70's installed .

Unlike the 82-87 IRON disk brakes,....... these aluminum calipers are not mounted using "pins". These brakes require 2 bolts per caliper in order to mount the caliper to the backing plate.

I have seen the factory diagrams for the 1992 Camaro 10 bolt rears and they too use 2 bolts rather than the earlier pins -

------ But I need the Part numbers for those 4 caliper bolts for a 9-BOLT REAR !!!!

Anyone have a 89 parts # book ??? Mine only goes to 86 !

Close - but no luck yet !
Thanxs guys,

This scan is for the 7 5/8" 90-91 rear axle,...... my rear brakes are from an 89 IROC & they are mounted the 7 3/4" 9-Bolt.

I'm don't think that the bolts are the same because the caliper "backing" plate on my rear-end is not the same as the one from the 91-92 rear ends. (But,... It might be the same too ! )

I ran the part # anyway on GMPartsdirect.com and they didn't have it availible. I did get teh bolt dimensions from the images you guys passed to me,... so I will be buying a few of them from a hardware store ASAP !!

Here is a picture of the backing plate so you can see the differance. The rear already has the 3.70 gears installed and has been completely sandblasted. I also had my buddy weld the seems around some of the suspension mounting points to make them stronger !

... just ask your local GM dealer for the part number. And keep it all GM. If you need a good dealer for parts, let me know. I use a very knowledgeable one on PA.

Dealers Suck !
Good advise - but my local chevy dealer has turned into an *sshole.

They will not even sit in front of the Parts PC unless I give them a VIN number for the car. In my case that is a real inconvenience because my ride is built with parts from just about every model year of ThirdGen Camaro production !!!!

This is a good example of that - I need the bolts for an 89 rear end,.......... but my car is "actually" an 84.

Here is a picture of the rear as it looks this morning - It got Primered & Painted yesterday and I'll mount the new suspension on it this afternoon before watching the Steelers CRUSH the Patriots !!!!!!

Uh --- dude - the Patriots won.

And the bolts from a '92 disc rear end are the same for the 89 9-bolt. The bolts thread into the caliper carrier - they just go through the plate. The plate is not threaded. You should be able to figure out what bolt you need if you have the calipers already. Just make sure you get a good strong bolt - grade 10.9 (the bolts are metric) A local fastener supplier should have what you need. Oh - and use red loctite.
