Subframe connectors
Hello everyone, I am a few weeks away from ordering sfc. And I’ve pretty much narrowed it down to what I think I want, I am thinking about going with umi 2400-b and alstons inner sfc. I have a few questions about this setup, will these work together with exhaust route? Will the UMI’s bolt to the LCA like the spohns? Is there anything better than this combo? Any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks

Re: Subframe connectors
That should be an awesome combo, I just run the UMIs on my car and I’m pretty happy with them. They do bolt to the LCAs but I’m not familiar with the Spohns, I assume it’s the same. The only question with exhaust is what are you running? If stock or same size you should be good for clearance with SFCs. If you run a aftermarket Y pipe you will likely have to modify the Y pipe a bit to get everything to fit. I had mine installed the same time I did the Magnaflow Y pipe and it was so big it had to be bent in a touch to clear the SFC. Just a compromise when mixing aftermarket parts.

Re: Subframe connectors
I always wonder who the people are that do both Alstons and some other SFCs. Yes, for the most part, stiffer is better (though there are notably some instances where designers used flex in the chassis for suspension tuning, like Ford Cobras), but with things like this there are diminishing returns, the more you add the less additional difference it makes, and anyone that is seriously worried about handling that will take advantage of subframe connectors will also be concerned about weight.
For the most part unless you have some special needs, get any reasonable set of parameter style SFCs and install them correctly. If that's not stiff enough for you, weld them to the rockers. If that's not enough, well you probably have a justification for a cage and that will do more for rigidity than a second set of SFCs AND enhance safety, possibly add something that you have to have anyway if you're pushing the car that hard.
