Hi guys! New here and looking for some info. First things first my setup. I’ve got a Frankenstein of a 3rd gen formula. Purchased the car running and driving. Previous owner bought it as a shell. It’s an 86. It’s got spohn tubular k and control arms up front and spohn adjustable control arms in the back. Car had a lq9 in it. Previous owner put a t-56 with a ten bolt torsen from a ls 4th gen in the car. I purchased the car for spectator drag racing(head to head circle track). Since I’ve owned the car I put a 12 bolt from a 4th gen,4:11 gears, rear double adjustable coil overs, rollbar, fire suppression, 4l80e all behind a aluminum 5.3 out of a gmc envoy. Motor is cammed and running a m122 supercharger from a gt 500 mustang. Car runs e85 and is controlled with a holley terminator x. Right now she is a touch under 500hp and 500 foot pounds to the wheels.
Now my question for the guys who know these cars much better than I. Do fourth gen or corvette spindles work on these cars? I ask because I’d like to add a front wheel sensor to add traction control. Any of you guys done it here? What setup did you use if you have?
Do fourth gen or corvette spindles work on these cars?
No. Not even close. Totally different designs from what's in these cars.
No idea whether anyone has ever retrofitted traction control to one of these. That mostly involves the brakes, and of course a wheel speed sensor on each wheel, and the electronics to control it all. Doesn't seem like it would be all that hard, but whether it's already been done by someone, I couldn't say. Wouldn't necessarily require changing the spindles if the sensor arrangement could be accomplished some other way.
Neither of those spindals will work. Different set-ups all together. Does the Terminator X have traction control capability? Also, the 4th gen TC sensors were in the rear. The rears on these cars were basically the same as in the 3rd gen, so you may start your research there.
Thanks for the replies. Not what I wanted to hear but just what I needed to hear. My last build was a foxbody so sn95 and newer parts were just bolt on. The terminator x v3 has multiple strategies for traction control. Hard ware wise it requires an unpowered speed sensor(front wheel) and a powered(output shaft, driveshaft, or rear wheel speed sensor) I’ve got an 80e trans so the vss is already connected to the ecu. I need to figure out the front wheels. Sounds like it’s going to need fabrication.
