3rd gen and 4th gen

I started to snow today, and my friend whos got a 93 trans am came down my street fishtailing, i did the same thing with my 92 RS a few minutes later(there were no cars on my street and its fairly wide too) and my car kicked alot harder to the side then his did and mine seemed a bit more squirrely then his did, i kno the 3rd gens are like a 40:60 weight ratio or something close to that, what are the 4th gens, because his car looked like it had better control.

Re: 3rd gen and 4th gen

Have you ever worked on a LT1 or LS1 car? Then engine sits further back and lower. Which common sense tells you it will be a better ballanced ride and handle better.

4th gen V-6 got something called SGS ... I'm still trying to figure out what it does. has something to do with the transmission or so I've heard.

I would race him for pinks if I was you. I have a 87 and a 02. The 02 is scary fast, alot faster then my modded 87 and handles alot better also. I have a couple of bolt ons on my 02 but Damn its fast.

Pressing this button will allow the transmission to start in 2nd gear instead of 1st. Thus, reducing the amount of wheel spin and allowing for an easier start in bad weather. I have it in my 95 v6 firebird. It makes quite a bit of a difference.

I drove the car today in the rain and this is what this 97 3.8 seems to do as well .. where as with it turned off you just sit there and spin the hell out of both tires once it's turned on it still can spin just not as easy. gotta love technology!

i dont like the new car technology. soo much to deal with and problems if something goes wrong. i like the old school ways none of this computer stuff. these new 2000 type cars have to much computerized stuff its like so hard to work on that you have to take it in to get it fixed i hate having some else fixing my own cars

Brings back a memory once of this 97 camaro missing badly and hesitating plugged in a code scanner and what did it say .... miss detected in #6 cylinder ... checked plug wire connections and found the plug wire was blistered and brittle in a unseen spot ... 15 minutes changing plug wire and car ran perfect .... enjoy non technology and chasing after a miss LOL I'de rather the ecm tell me exactly which cylinder is the culprit ... but thats just me.
