Is the factory sway bars on 6cyl cars 18mm in rear and 24mm in the front is this the smallest diameter that was available?

Measure whatever you have with open-end wrenches, or a Crescent wrench and a micrometer. Whatever they are, that's what you've got. Factory or not. Although they probably are, I doubt that more than .1% of all the cars on this forum have a different sway bar dia from whatever they came with.

Can't say that I've ever much focused too much on the "smallest". (or even really, the "largest"... equally useless on the other end of the scale, as far as that goes) Kinda like, if there was a masculine part contest, who (besides me) would step up and offer their masculine part as the "smallest"?

So, yeah... pretty much, whatever came on a 6-cyl car, yes. Except maybe for the coupla years they had 4-cyl cars. Those might have been even weeeeeenier. In ways other than just the motor butt I don't know for sure, I avert my eyes whenever I encounter such a thing, so I'm not even a particularly well-informed spectator.

Re: What is the factory sway bar size for 6cyl camaro/firebird

The base Firebirds/Camaros had a 1-1/8" front bar and 3/4" rear bar (early model year V-6 cars and Iron Duke 4 had no rear bar). Trans Am and Z-28 had 1-1/4" front bar and 7/8" rear bar, which is what I put on my Firebird. I am referring to the solid bars, not the later model tubular bars...

Thanks
My formula is going to be a street/strip car never liked how ruff the ride is in formula and trans ams.I figure base model v8 springs front and rear and 6cyl sway bars should give a softer ride.

The sway bars have nothing to do with the "ride", only springs, bushings, and tires. "Sway-bars" (a term used to refer to stabilizer bars or anti-roll bars) reduce the amount of side-to-side body roll during cornering or taking curves at higher speeds which also affects over-steer (tail happy) and under-steer front-end plow). They are essentially a spring, and the lighter the car, the less stiff they need to be. So a V-6 car doesn't need as large a "sway-bar" as a heavier V-8 car. They are also sized front & rear according to the weight distribution of the particular car...
