Hello, It looks like the most recent post on this one is from 2018 - are we still just welding in washers and hammering out some home made plates to fix this or are there some pre fab fitted patches available now that are nicer, better, stronger? I did not see anything, but thought I'd check in here just in case. Just a cruiser, spending a couple grand on a coil over kit just to get the patches wouldn't really make sense

As far as I know there are no new replacements for this, seems to me the only options are what you mentioned, fabricating your own or cutting these out of a car that's being parted out, I bought a section of rear fender from a seller on one of the FB Thirdgen pages.

So after about 20 calls to auto repair shops around town, I found a guy who is willing to make up a patch out of a large washer and weld it in, and I was thinking, while he's at it, I should have him do both sides. From the posts I read, both are known to blow out, however, it seems to me that the passenger side is the more frequent offender. Agree or disagree? This is my second time on this job, different cars, and it was the passenger side both times. If this is true, does anyone know a reason for it? Is there something different about the drivers side that makes it stronger somehow??
The pass side tends to fail first because that's the side that gets stressed more when you stomp on the gas pedal like it's a cockroach. OTOH whenever you go over a bump they get the same violation.
The 2 sides are equally fragile.
If one has already broke, the other isn't all that far behind. Do em both NOW. That way, you only pay for an extra, what, 2 washers and 15 minutes? and you don't hafta pay the ENTIRE shop/dumba$$ cover charge AGAIN next week when the other side does what it's inevitably gonna do.
