sway bars
will putting bigger sway bars on my car do much. are they worth the money.
If you have a Z28 you should already have the "good" sway bars. I don't remember the size but I know that it's the bigger one chevy put on third gens. The one you have now should be good enough for the street. What are your intentions with your car? I recommend you just change the bushings and end links. You will notice a great improvment.

Depends on how much larger you're going to go. Check out the junkyards for the "cheap" way to upgrade to a thicker bar. For instance, look under an 85-up 2.8/3.1 f-body- you'll find a 34mm front bar. Later model WS6 and 1LE cars (ex: IROCs) came with 36mm front bars. I think your '84 has a 32mm solid front bar. While you're at it, instead of re-using the old rubber bushings, buy new polyurethane ones for both the mounting bushings and the end-link kits. Just moving to new poly bushings on your current bars will make a noticable difference compared to your +18 year old rubber.

If you want to stick with your current bars, do the poly bushing upgrade. You'll need to measure the thickness of your current bars to order the correct bushings. If you don't have dial calipers, tighten down an open-ended adjustable wrench on the center of each bar. Then, measure the gap of the wrench using millimeters. We can use a "universal" rear bushing kit, but we can't use a universal kit for the front bar- the f-bodies have an offset bracket. Energy Suspension has their catalog online, go to http://www.energysuspension.com . When checking prices at http://www.summitracing.com , put an "ENS-" in front of the part #, and put a single-digit color code at the end. Some colors are "R" for Red, "G" for Graphite (black), "Y" for yellow, "B" for blue, etc. An example is ENS-3-5159R (for red 30mm rear bar bushings). Sometimes Summit will be out of stock of one color, but have stock in another color.
