Dumb sway bar question
did all third gens come factory with a rear sway bar? I do not have one, and it seems to have bad oversteer and body roll because of it. My friend's 89 has one, but his car has the 'soft ride suspension' package, so its pretty puny. If my car did not originally come with one, would it have the holes drilled for the mounting brackets? Can anyone reccomend a good pair of aftermarket sway bars?

Some early base model cars did not come with a rear sway bar, so it's quite possible your car never had one. I don't know if you'd have the holes or not. Instead of aftermarket, just look for used swaybars in the junkyard and get new poly end links and bushings.

But it wasnt a base model. Came factory with the 4-speed auto over the 3 speed, power windows, power locks. Ihave no idea if it had one, im the 8th owner of this car.

If it's not a Formula or Trans Am, it's a base model. Options have little to do with it.
Anyway, if it didn't originally come equipped with rear sway bar, the brackets that the endlinks connect to probably won't be there, so at the yard, you'll likely have to cut those off and have them welded to your car.

If you get a used one, you will need the oem brackets that connect the end-links to the car. Way back when, I went with a Hellwig brand aftermarket bar that bolts to existing holes on the car--fairly easy install. It's a 1 inch solid bar. I also have the Hellwig front 1 5/16 solid bar. You need to have a matched set of sway bars for it to handle correctly.
