8.8 switch
8.8 switch
Hello. Has anyone here ran the 7.5 rear end and switch to 8.8 and record any results as far as et’s? Current setup runs 7.55 seconds in the 1/8 and have a 8.8 ready to go (same gear ratio as 7.5) and was wondering if any et loss due to the change. I know the rear ends are different weight. Any previous experience or knowledge would be appreciated.

Re: 8.8 switch
The 8.8 is slightly heavier. Maybe 20 lbs or something; not a drastic difference. 8.8 has slightly higher rolling resistance butt again only a minor difference.
Beyond that, there are any number of details that can affect ET, which won't replicate from one car to the next. LCA angles which can DRASTICALLY affect traction aka launch, U-joint and drive shaft angles, brake drag (you didn't say what brakes you're using), and so on. No matter what happened to somebody else's car, better or worse, yours won't necessarily be the same. Besides, sounds like you're doing it regardless, so it hardly matters anyway. What happens will happen.
