aftermarket brake setups?
aftermarket brake setups?
Hey guys,
I've looked through the search function and thought it'd be best if I posted this question.
My brakes are starting to get old on my 92 Z28 and I would like to upgrade.
Now I'm in love with this car and plan on keeping it for the long haul. I want to show it in about a year or so.
Keep in mind I AM on a budget... student etc. So i've narrowed it down to a nice aftermarket system. nothing too fancy but slotted/zinc plated rotors would be nice with a caliper a little better than stock and some good brake pads etc. I'll replace all the brake lines with stainless (anyone have rough prices of these lines?)
Well comments/ideas would be sweet. Now I know some will say "1le" setup... but I don't really know, where do I buy parts from? is it a bolt-on? I like doing work myself so it can't be TOO hard of an install, and I would also like slotted/zinc plated rotors since I want to show the car eventually and I do love the look.
Let me know what you think

Since you're not going to be driving the car aggressivly (Auto X/Road racing) you don't have to have the '1LE' brake package (~1200 bux for the front), so you could do a rebuild on your calipers (~100 bux), get the SS braided lines (~140 bux from Ground Control) and get your aftermarket rotors for a couple of hundred bux and you'd be able to do all that work yourself. It'll be more if you need the master cylinder or brake booster.
