Are the stock springs adequate for Bilstein struts??

Are the stock springs in a 91' RS too soft for Bilstein struts and shocks? Would I be better off going with a spring that is a little stiffer such as Eibach?

I don't think you'll have a problem. I'm replacing my stock shocks and struts with HAL 12-way adjustable rear shocks and KYB AGX 5-way adjustable front struts and keeping my stock springs. The problems come when you change to something like Eibach springs and don't replace you stock shocks and struts. The higher spring rates usually kill them.

Actually, the heavy duty rear shocks are for the stock springs. Bilstein also makes a Sport version of their rear shock that they reccomend for aftermarket springs. I have yet to put my sports on. I'm the world's largest procrastinator, I've had those shocks sitting in my hatch for about 2 months now

I've been told that it's a bad idea to install poly components and Bilstein shocks without first installing sub-frame connectors and a wonderbar. Is this true.

Subframe connectors are always a good idea on any third-gen, just be sure to get a set of weld-in connectors. I have Kenny Brown and I know Global West's are very similar. Both very stout pieces. I don't have a wonderbar and I don't think it makes "that" much of a difference.

The stock springs will work. Actually, the reverse is more important; if you go to stiffer springs, you need stiffer shocks. Stiffer springs will oscillate at a higher frequency with a smaller amplitude and stock shocks will not be able to control them adequately.
