My '88 IROC with factory 15" wheels doesn't have a wonderbar. Did it come with it (and since get it removed), or did the wonderbar only come with the 16" wheels? I notice that my IROC doesn't have the "Z" code steering box either, just the normal box that came on earlier Z/28s.

 

I am under the impression that "ALL" IROCs' came with 16" wheels,etc.

I am sure this question can get a better reply on the "history/restoration" board. I would suggest posting it there.

I had to replace the drivers door on my '86 IROCZ due to accident damage. I was very careful to cut out the portion of the old door out that contained my tire size and VIN details. Because this is the only documentation that I have that the car is an original IROCZ. 16" wheels=IROC

 

No, from '88-'90 the 15" wheels were standard on the IROC, and 16" wheels were optional. Basically there were two tiers of IROC in those years, the base IROC that was essensially what would have been called a Z28 in '85-'87, and the performance IROC that was the same as the IROC in the earlier years.

 

So I am only half right. the fact that my '86 has 16" wheels makes it an IROCZ for sure?

Tell you what though. I learn something new everyday on this board. COOL!
