Grind + Jingle
Grind + Jingle
There is a jingle sound coming from the back of my car, it seems to change frequency with the speed of the car, i checked for looses bolts, washers etc, and cleaned my trunk out a bunch of times looking for things bouncing around. All my searching leaves the breaks as the culperet. But what about them could be jingleing? The right rear drum also started making a grinding noise as i drove today (only while moving. Both sounds go away when i get on the breaks.
The pedal feels good, and i have plenty of breaking power. What could the problem be?

I had a mystery jingle for the longest time on my convertable. Finally found out it was the parking brake cable hanging down against the driveshaft (the driveshaft is hollow, so it makes a neat jingle sound when something metal scrapes up against it). The cable had come out of it's retainer on the tunnel. I just stuck it back where it should be and readjusted it and it's been fine ever since. That sounds like your culprit, since it changes pitch with speed and goes away with the brakes (it tightens up the cable and pulls it off the driveshaft).
