Are 3rd and 4th gen brakes swappable?
Are 3rd and 4th gen brakes swappable?
Is it possible to take the brakes off of a 4th gen camaro and put them on a third gen? I have an 87 IROC and would like to put newer/better brakes on it. Also would anti-lock systems be swappable? Thanks for any help

Yeah, can you put '98 Camaro v6 front brakes on a '91 GTA? Are they same as the z28 brakes from the same year?

Yes and no.
I put front 12" 4thgen front brakes on my IROC but due to lack of interest and not knowing how strong they were, I pulled 'em off.
They did stop very well, though. They weren't on very long though so I don't know how well they would do in the long run. The thing that scared me was a slight front brake groan over 40 MPH.
Required alot of modification to an old rotor to use it as a hub 'adapter' for the wheel bearings that the 4thgen rotor could slide onto, then a custom bracket.
I cheated in back, I have a 11" rear disc/4thgen rear setup. I'm now looking into going to a front 1LE or a Baer setup.
I'm right now trying to find a front hubbed 12" front rotor that has an ABS sensor ring on it so I can finish up my ABS brake install. I should be able to find one from a late model GM truck, I just need to make sure the dimensions otherwise are similar.
To answer your question, front 4thgen brakes are composite, not hubbed, so no, they re not a direct bolt on, although fabrication is possible, it may be better to go with front 1LE's.
