which is better 10 or 9 bolt rearend
i have a 86 iroc with a 3.23 posi 10 bolt rear axle. i've heard alot about the 10 and 9 bolt rear axle. i don't know anything about the 9 bolt. just wondering the pro's and con's both the rear axle types. thanks, tom
The "9 bolt" rear end is considered stronger than the 10 bolts, of which there were two (correct me if I'm wrong here) ring gear diameters used throughout the lifespan of the Camaro. I believe your '86 IROC would have the 10 bolt with the 7 and 5/8" ring which is better than the earlier 7.5" 10 bolt. I really thought your IROC would have the 9 bolt though. A little help guys?

If you have a 10 bolt you can do a few modifications and it will be stronger then a 9 bolt.
