BAER or SSBC?

Hi Everyone,

I am hoping to build up my car sometime (when I get enough money).
I ahve been looking at brake kits for the camaro. I would like a 6 piston caliper.

What company do you think is the best?

What do you think of Carbon fiber brakes?

Where can you get them?

Thanks =)

WHAT?!?!?!?!

First of all, what the hell do you need a 6 piston caliper on that car for? Are you planning on driving that at Laguna Seca, or Lime Rock? That's what those were made for, and you need the A-arms and struts to be made of moly or forged alum. to get the best results from that. Those are serious duty (damn near Indy car performance) calipers. For normal and even some competition at SCCA local tracks, 2 piston should be more than enough.

Unless you are in serious competition, I would reconsider your choice.

Just my 2 cents worth,

Poncho

Actually, they both make outstanding kits, I've only heard good things about them. Both. They have been in business for quite some time. I think personally, I would go with the SSB system, merely because they offer other equipment as well, and it seems everybody and their brother is using Baer brakes right now, I have to be different from the rest of the crowd...

More 2 cents, hell, you're almost up to a nickel now!

P.

P.S. Wish I had that kind of disposable cash to HAVE to make that sort of decision...

thanx for the input

I wish I had that kind of money too

What do you think of carbon fiber brakes?

I have not seen them for sale anywhere but from what I hear that last forever and work better than any steel brake ever could.

thanks again

Baer is better than the others simply becuase they use GM stocked parts (PBR kits), which are a lot cheaper and easier to get in a pinch.

Any 6 piston caliper brakes are gonna need at least a 17" wheel, probably 18" and third gens respond like poop to 18" rubber.

Carbon Fiber rotors are $10k plus a pair, more than any thirdgen used. If you refer to brake pads, they are ok, but won't last forever.

Not to burst your bubble, but there are only 2 or 3 cars on this board that need anything more than a Baer PBR kit, mine isn't one of them.

Upgrade to a 1LE brake system and you'll be fine. I got mine thru SSBC.
