rear caliper ?
Just wondering if anyone knows how to rotate the piston so I can get the tab on the brake pad to line up with the indent on the piston???

I am sorry. But I don't know too much about the pre '89 rear calipers, except that the are a lot of trouble. That is one of the main reasons why many people convert to the '89-'92 type rear brakes.
When I rebuilt my rear calipers I just lined up the piston before I stuffed it in. Took me a couple of tries before I got it right.
BTW if you go that route just get the rebuild kit change all of the seals while your there.

Ya might want to get the recall kit, and rebuild that new caliper. I a bought new (well, technically, "rebuilt") caliper from Pep Boys, cost me $70. It didn't work at all; they used the old-style piston in it.
They sell a tool for $15, by Lisle, at any Pep Boys/Strauss, that looks like a little cube. One side of the cube has two notches that fit your piston. You attach your ratchet to the cube, and twist the ratchet, and it spins the piston.
Or you can do it the He-Man way like I did, and use a large pair of channel locks on the edge of the piston; just don't tear the piston boot.
