lockup problem with rear drums when cold
lockup problem with rear drums when cold
I was wondering what would cause the rear brakes to lock up when cold on a 91 RS with drums. It only does it when it is cold out and stops doing it after a few minutes.
Ok I'll take a guess. Mom had a '75 Nova that did this, but I'm not sure what the fix was. Could be wheel cylinders need new o rings, cheap fix and not too hard to do. or maybe master cylinder, or... ok somebody help us out here... Try doing a search. Good luck

I was wondering if someone knocked out the plug on the backing plate that allows the shoes to be retracted- and didn't put a rubber plug in there to seal it up. Maybe moisture is getting in there, and your brakes are wet, and grabbing? Just a shot in the dark...
I have tried searching. It is not my car, but from what he tells me it is when it is cold not wet out. I wondered about the proportioning valve, but wondered why it would stop after a few minutes or wouldnt do it when it wasnt cold out.
