Moroso open element - will it fit L03?

I just finished with the SLP headers, 3" exhaust, high-flow cat, and Dynomax muffler. The engine still has the stock air system and I wanted to open it up.

I bought a Moroso air filter, then found out it was a drop filter. Based on all my searches, I need the non-drop.

Anyone know if it'll fit before I try to put it on anyway? Just curious.

actually, with the stock TBI unit, you will need a drop base. This is because the unit uses a factory spacer. Without the spacer, it is possible to run a non-drop base, which is actually the best way to go. If you decide to return the filter assembly, and go with a non drop base, be sure to remove the spacer which is tack welded on or you will run into problems with the throttle linkage hitting the bottom of it. However, yes it will work now.

I wanna get thsi straight before i get a new 14X3 element - a non drop w/o the spacer is the best?

yes, the best flow without compromise would be to remove the factory tack welded spacer and then simply use a non-drop base aircleaner.

I'm using the Moroso 14x3" Flat Bottom Air Cleaner (non-drop base) Fits well without the spacer.Clears the hood with Edelbrock intake which is 1/4" taller than stock.
Moroso# 65911, $47.99 from Summit.

The reason that tack welded spacer is there from the factory is because it was needed to clear the linkage.
