IAC adjustment
IAC adjustment
Ok I've read the tech article and know where the IAC is & what it does but where is the place to adjust it at? On the IAC motor itself or on the TB? I'm putting on a Holley 670 TBI & will prolly need to adjust the idle so thats why I'm wondering
Thanks,

All your adjusting here is the amount you have the throttle blades open. So if you look at the throttle stop which is located on the tb, for the life of me I can't remember which side it's on, it could be covered with a plug. It's the same principle as adjusting the idle on a carb only you have to get the iac to seat fully then disconnect it then restart the car and adjust the screw. I think it's something like that. Help me out here guys.

The procedure is outlined in several manuals, but this is how I think it goes...
You turn the key to ON and wait until the IAC pintle seats itself. Next, disconnect it and turn the key OFF. Now short pins A and B on the ALDL (field test mode) and start the car. It will probably be idling fairly low. I think you move the adjuster until you're at the correct rpm. Somewhere in the range of 500rpm. But the thing is, don't go by the tach because I don't think it's accurate (mine reads ~200rpm high at almost all RPMs). If you have a scanner, find where you think 500 REAL RPM would be on your dash tach and try to set the min air to this setting...then shut the car off, disconnect the jumper (paper clip) and plug in the IAC. Start the car and it should idle.
Hope that makes sense and if I was wrong, or somebody wants to add something, feel free.

The throttle stop is on the driver's side of the TB. Just find and look at the screw that touches the throttle stop. You can see where it comes out of the TB housing. On the other side from the place where the screw comes out of the housing there shoud be a hole with a metallic plug in it. Simply remove this plug and you have the torx screw located a little farther into the TB housing.
