Anyone have any experience witha cam like the 2032 Crane with I/E of 214/220 lift of 452/465 with a 112 LSA

Are you not satisfied with your current combo? We are always looking for more. I have never used the cam you mentioned but I think you have a very nice selection of upgrades now.

Well, from all of my cam queries I have come to the conclusion that not too many people have used cams larger than the LT1 cam.

I think Pablo is running a cam with the same duration, just with more lift. Hopefully he will reply to this post.

I will be swapping in a ZZ4 cam (208/221 .474/.510 112) in a about a week and will post my results.

Yes.......more power I think that I might do better adding the HD Torsen and GM 3:42 gears that I have sitting. Just curious about opinions onthe cam.

What?!?! I thought you were already having problems, aren't you? I figure swapping to a bigger cam isn't going to solve the tuning problems. Maybe if the HOT cam is too big, this might be too.
Oh well, run it, and let us know what the limits of the ECM are!

I wonder if it is the vortec heads that are hard to tune, because irco22 is running a 206/210 .450/.480 cam on the stock chip with World heads.

You are running the LT4 cam right, if you tried to run it off the stock chip how well did it run?

Yes I am am runnng the stock LT4 cam. When I changed the LO3 to the LT4 I had it running off the stock chip with only a little added pump shot and it ran fine.

When I changed the heads and intake 2 months later is when the problems began. It might be the intake in that doesn't have any heat (exh or water) I don't know. Grumpy says that heat is needed with a dual plane. But...others on the board in colder climates have these intakes and havn't said anything like this. Don't know! Like I have said in the past WOT is great!! When the outside temp is cooler/cold it runs poorly at cold idle and part throttle. I as of yet have not been able to correct this with prom tuning. I AM NOT a tuner of EFI or carbs so my results are less than desired. It can probably be corrected with more tuning.

Today its 85 degrees and had no problems at all. BLM's crusing on the interstate coming home were 127/128. No spitbacks or throttle lags. WOT no knock. It's probably just my inexperience tuning any sort of engine.

Yes.... I know that I don't need to be considering a larger cam on top of my tuning problems already. Willie has one for sale and I was going to purchase it for my son-in-law's carbed 350 build up but when I got around to checking the block it's an older non-roller version.

Just a thought and it did not hurt to ask.

By the way I'm probably going to port a set of TPI heads (LB9 305's) and see what a different head and intake combo will do since the Vortec's are coming off for a 350.

 

I say go for it, not enough wild 305 TBIs out there.

 

I'm using the Crane Compucam 2030, which is a little smaller than the 2032, but it's on a 350.The 2030 is really mild for my combo and I think the 2032 would be fine on a 305, as long as you have an AFPR and are willing to experiment and tune some.

I would feel more like experimenting if it was running correctly now. And if I had my rear gears already changed. Crane recomends 3:45's or higher for that cam.

 

Manifold vaccum seems to be the big issue with stock chips and you lose it when the duration gets higher and LSA is low. Keep that in mind although you probably already know that.

AFPR's are supposed to help with the stock chip when a bigger cam is installed. Maybe I should buy one.

Is the 2032 a roller? That lift is kinda low, you should try to get the most lift you can.

 

Yes the 2032 is a roller and yes the lift on some of those Crane cams isn't what you would think of as being a roller with higher lift like the one that your have which by the way I like

The car that it came out of is a blown 305 TPI running lower 12's

 

I'm running the 2031 in mine and love it! Low end torque is awesome and she pulls hard up to 4800 rpm (after that, the motor just can't breathe since the motor is all stock except for the cam).

The 2031 is just a hair-smaller than the 2032.

Go for it!!! You'll love it......

Yeah boosted cars seem to like less lift in most cases.

 

Yup...still running the stock chip. Once I change the exhuast, intake, do the Ultimate TBI mods and change the FPR then I think I had better start to learn to burn chips!

The only thing I have done (adjustment-wise) is set the base timing to 6*. Once in a while I'll get a ping reading in WinALDL while cursing at highway speeds while accelerating slightly and the torque convertor stays locked-up. Other then that, it's a great runner! And I'm not running the HI-6S box (only the coil).
