Monday i went to get my car smogged (for the 3rd time) and it failed horribly at idle. Hydro-carbons and CO were two times the llimit. The place said that they would run a diagnostic and get it to pass smog for 125 bucks. So i brought it in today , the spent 3 hours fixing it and it ended up passing with flying colors. .01% CO compared to the limit 1%, and 11 PPM of HC, limit is 120

 

What did they do?

And how does it run now.

 

It runs alot smoother and the throttle response is better.
I dont really know what they did. He said that he cleaned the injectors and TBI. Also said that my o2 sensor was lagging, it was only reading between 400-500 mV and in order to keep the CO and HCC down, he had to let off the gas gentle after revving it up because the o2 sensor couldnt keep up or something. He said that he went to a class and learned the old o2 sensors actually work better then ones out of the box, thought that was pretty weird
I think im just gonna switch to a 3 wire one in the summer.

Im just glad it is over. Time to install some gears, posi, and my aluminum DS
