V6 700R4 Tranny Question: Will it work with ok w/305 TBI set up?

I know the V6 tranny has 3.42 gears in it, I have a 3.42 posi rear end so I was thinking about getting the V6 tranny getting it freshed up a local tranmission shop and swapping it it w/the 3.42 rear.

Any pitfalls?

Years to avoid?

Will a V6 tranny have higher shift points and wind out higher?

Is a V6 700R4 duriable as any other 700R4?

the V6 tranny has a different bolt pattern than the V8 version. it is just as strong, has the same intenalas and the same gear ratios, no real reason not to get an 88 or up V8 one and use it. the later the year the better, they continued to make minor little improvements as they went.

NJ is half right but with that said he didn't have all the info either. Now he is correct if the tranny in question is from a 2.8 or 3.1 V6. Now if it's from a 4.3 then there is now difference and will bolt up no prob. And you are correct in that if it's out of a vehicle that originaly had 3.42's you won't have to change the speedo gears unless it's older than when GM started using electric speedos. I think it started in 1990, I could be wrong.
