Carb to TBI help needed

Hello all, I am new here, over from the Pirate 4x4 board and mainly on jeeps unlimited.
I have an 85 CJ7 with an older style 350 in it.
I just bought the jeep back in december and I hate the carburation idea. Its hard to start, hates hills, etc...
It has a Performer RPM intake manifold and a 650 Holley carb.
I am upgrading to a HEI distributor in the next few weeks and would like to get started gathering parts for a TBI swap.

I have searched through many posts and found some great info for when i get started.

My question is, what do i need?
Can you guys give me a shopping list if i were to walk into a junk yard and be able to grab things. Maybe some good models and years of chevys to pick from.

Thank You in advance
Mike

teh easiest thing to do wold be to find a tbi powered car or truck in a salvage yard. what you need to grab is the ECM, complete tb, any of the sensors you can get to(tps and iac are on teh tb, h2o temp, knock sensor.....ect) and you may wanna grab teh distributer that is in the car/truck too. you can either spend the time getting the wiring harness out of the car or you can call up gm with the make/model/engine code for the car and order a new wiring harness for about 100-120bucks. some of the sensors i woudl try to grab new ones, teh O2 can eb gotten brand new for only $20, so there is no real reason to recycle on that one.
good luck with the swap, if you have any q's let us know.

later

Wouldn't be a bad idea to get a repair manual for the car or truck you get your parts from. It should have all the sensors and wiring schematics you would need to get this thin running. Don't forget the fuel system either.

Here is what I would get......
NJ is on the money. Grab the TBI, coolant temp sensor, knock sensor, dist and coil if you can, ESC and bracket, Map sensor and bracket, EGR selenoid and bracket, and the ECM. Call up Howell and order a Universal TBI harness. It will come with the fuel pump relay, the ALDL connector, ECM connections, and what ever else you want in the harness. If you live in Cali or a place where you have to have it smogged, AIS goodies may be needed also depending on tranny and year. Manual '92 trannies in Cali did not have AIS, so you might want to pick up the goods from a '92. You can use an external fuel pump from an '83 Celica. I agree with the new O2, and you can get the bung from a muffler shop, or get one from Howell too. Howell can also sell you a speed sensor, and an adapter plate for the TBI. I have put together a couple of these, if you live around Sacramento, I could give you some help if needed....
