What temp should fan kick on?

I redid my guages with some DIY white face guages and I have all the needles on except the engine temp that has marked number of 100, 220, and 260. I was thinking the best way
to get this guage accurate again was to find out what tempature the cooling fan kicks on and then let the car run till the fan kicks on and then place the needle and the correct temperature. If you have another idea on how to get this guage calibrated feel free to share....

Does anyone know what tempature a 305 TBI cooling fan kicks on?

with my stock 12 year old fan switch the fan would kick on at 220-225 but when i had to get a new one it doesnt kick on until right before it hits the red area. So it is hard to tell. Can u remember about what temp it was before the fan kicked it?

According to the ad in the Summit (or was it Jegs?) catalog for the Hypertech (or was it Jet? LOL) low temp fan switch, the stock fan switch comes at 225.

yeah im pretty sure it kicks on at 225. i wouldnt keep my car that hot tho ever since i added a 180 degree thermo, new water pump and radiator and new fluid the car rarely gets about 160. i have a actual fan switch inside the car because my other fan switch was broken into a million pieces when i did spark plugs. if i keep TBI then im gonna get one of the lower temp switches.
