What's so bad about crossfire injection

I have a 82 Z-28 with dual throttle bodies and crossfire injection and i'm seeing all over the net that crossfire injection sucks. Can you guys tell me why it so bad.

it is a symtom of the response that all forms of tbi see. until the last few years no one has taken th etime to try to develop it for any real power.
there is nothing really wrong with tbi as a system. from teh factory cross fire is faced with not so good intake manifold casting quality. if you look inside your intake you will see casting flash and some wavey surfaces that can easily be cleaned up with a dremel tool in a few hours.
other than that it is a typicakl early eighties V8. too small a cam and very smog oriented heads that give a bit low compression.
cfi is an impresive system to me since it already has good intake volume and develops good velocity, which means a good broad power band can be made easily.
don't worry about all those who doubt any system can make power, those are teh same guys that were saying that no one can ever get any power out of fuel injection, the pro street guys are going 220+ with fuel injection.

Check out the Crossfire Forum. You will find a lot of information on how to make these run.......... A few 300hp+ NA cars....NOS..... Even a blown Crossfire Vette. Crossfire engines respond well to basic hot rodding mods.

visit the link, learn what you can theres nothing wrong with it. One of our members runs almost 13 flat, he has since changed his heads and proceeded to out run a 93 viper 2 days ago..with simple, well thought out mods.

please refrain from name calling and attacks on individuals or other forms of air/fuel delivery. i do not want to have to start monitoring and editing every post on the board just because someone who doubts tbi or cfi adn delivery formats decides to say something.

thanks

u got to believe in the cfi

cfi is known as a pos but all u got to do is understand it and build it up! tom 400 is a prime example of a person who understands cfi! cfi is not a pos their good fuel injection systems with a bad rap!

I recently went in to the Parts Department at Pontiac to ask questions about the CFI. The Rep told me "The CFI will last you forever "IF" you maintain them".

I have an 82 Trans Am with the CFI. I bought it last year and it was crap! Leaks, smoke, etc. But when I dumped almost about $2000 into it, it runs sharp.
There have been times I wanted to junk it and get a newer F-Body, until I realised that you don't see many of them in town.

The idea and design of CFI is awesome if u want an example look at a 1969 Camaro Z28 with the 302 zapper it used a cross ram intake with 2 4bbl holleys also did the 426 wedge, as previously posted the lack of performace comes from badheads low compression, small cam etc. with some mods it will kick ****.

Whats wrong with it? Depends on what youre trying to do. From a racing standpoint though, its the intake. Its restrictive. I love the argument about how CFI can make power and such... well no kidding. Ever hear of restrictor plates? The ones NASCAR uses at some tracks? Same concept. Throw a major restriction and sure it can still make power but youre fighting it. Same goes with TPI, long runner, small cross section... makes for a great tow truck, but not so great for a race car. You'll have to decide if you want to build a tow truck or race car, or deal with the power loss from putting a straw on the cylinder head.

Hehe, I would love to put in those 3 4 Barrel Carb's from the old GTO's. The Engine would probably take off without my Body.
