what kind of filter for a TBI?

im getting ready to do the "ultimate" mods to my TB. And i want to switch to the K and N 3" non drop base air cleaner. Where is the cheapest and what part number do i need to get. Also where can i find a Throttle position sensor? to make the CPU think its at full throttle at 60%. What psi would the motor run best at with those modifications? Stock everythign else. (heads headers intake ect.)

just go to your local parts store. they usually have cheap open element filters there. don't worry about a k&n filter, a plain old paper filter will work just fine. most places have cheap chrome filters for under $20

We did a test the other day to see if K&N filters are worth it among other things. One thing that was noted is that K&N filters when are like having no filter at all. Produced same results on torque/HP curve. Another thing was that common air filters vs the K&N, the K&N had a steeper curve than the paper filter, it means that the engine got up faster almost nearly 15% faster at all RPM for the whole curve. Is it worth it? Hell ya I think. As for some other certain cash eating mods (we had 1 guy feel really bad at his $300 lost on a certain mod which gained <1HP and lost 2ft/lb of torque over the stock item).

My recommendation is get a K&N but any old chrome non drop filter with it will be fine.

Any non-drop 5 1/8" housing will work.
Our TB's have the same mounting diameter as common carbs do.
In other words, I'd be amazed if you managed to buy the wrong size.
I bought mine from Summit. It came with a 14X3 reusable element.

Summit Part #: KNN-60-1263. I was an idiot and bought it just because it had the K&N Logo and it was flat base. The non drop Sparca one or whatever its called at the part store didnt sit correctly and I couldn't stand it. I haven't noticed any H/P gains from the paper to K&N, but I feel better knowing I have one.
