94 blazer 1500 (350 tbi) what to mod (want 350 hp)
Well its been a while since ive posted on thirdgen, im between camaro's right now and ive got a 94 full sized blazer. Its got a tbi 350, and last night i removed the air muffler or silencer, whatever its called and put a four inch tubing in place of it. This has given me an itch to make some serious power out of this motor. I have a three chamber flowmaster on it and a k&n. It runs great and has alot of power as it is, but i want to be able to go to the track and run mid 14's. Headers look like a breeze to install, and so does an intake manifold (compared to my old 87z). I just want to have a great tone and a good amount of power out of this thing. Its a 350 and i dont see why i cant hit 350 hp with any problems, what would you guys do to this thing if you had it? Thanks in advance-

1. change exhaust from the engine to the rear bumper (I would do that first since you get immediate satisfaction and works well with the rest of mods.)
2. change HEADS, CAM and Intake.
a. Nice pair of Vortec heads would be fine
b. Comp cam 12-404-4 268AH14 [url]http://www.compcams.com/catalog/082_083.html[url]
c. Performer RPM Vortec Gen 1-Plus #7116* intake [url]http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/index.html[url]
3. Buy Laptop and run WINALDL software to Datalog computer (with that you can at least adjust base timing and fuel pressure until the thing runs decent)
4. Learn to burn your own chips. That is the only way you are going to get the thing to run perfect after adding 140hp to your engine.

If you don't want to go quite so radical and just want good performance and nice sound.
1. again still replace the entire exhaust with a good set of headers and high flow CATCO cat and 3" Mandrell bent cat-back system. I used Edelbrock TES headers, CATCO 3" Cat, and Dynomax Catback on my 92 Truck and it sounded great.
2. get the Edelbrock TBI intake
3. change cam to the LT1 roller cam (it provides a much better powerband than that L05 truck cam that redlines at 4500) and change valve springs to the K-Motion 571-K-700 springs.
That combo will give 270-280hp but will give you a MUCH improved powerband and great sound.
To convert your flat tappet cam engine to the roller setup. You will need these parts from www.gmpartsdirect.com this is a painless swap on 87+ blocks.
GMPP P/N 12371043 = timing chain/gears and roller cam retaining plate kit (1st and 2nd design plates!)
GMPP P/N 12371042 = 2nd design (higher ball preload) roller lifters (16) with (8) lifter aligners and (1) spider hold-down and (3) spider attaching bolts/washers.
GMPP P/N 10456413 = bronze HEI (large-cap, non-computer controlled internal-coil HEI) gear for use with steel roller camshaft.
I bought all this stuff used on ebay (except the valve springs and timing gear for $150 including cam) and ran in my 92 Truck and was VERY pleased with the results.
