Engine problem please help

My engine was running strong up till last night. I started her up and noticed that she was idling rough. When actually driving, the same thing, with a big loss in power. I looked under the hood and didn't notice anything. I swapped in my old coil and gave that a try. No luck. Then I put my MSD coil back in there and saw an electrical current running from the spark plug terminal on the coil to the magnet that runs around the coil. It happened pretty often, maybe about a surge or more per second. Does anybody know what may be making this happen? I would obviously assume it's in the ignition system, but where? Any help would be greatly apprieciated. Thank you in advance.

All right, I replaced the wire, and the spark problem stopped, but the engine is still running like crap. The wires (8.8 Accel) are only a month or two old, and the spark plugs (Accel U-groove) are only two weeks old. The cap and rotor are close to a year old. The MSD box is probably 10 months old, and the coil about two. I guess I'll start tearing into it, but if anyone has any ideas let me know please. Thank you.
P.S. Another problem that came up with my engine problem is that it takes forever to down shift, whether I do it manually or not. Yes, my TV cable is properly adjusted, and their is tranny fluid in there.

I figured out what the problem was.......faulty mechanics!!!! First they forget to connect my fan switch to the harness, and when I brought it back to them to have them fix that, they unplug my #6 spark plug wire, and forget to reconnect that! Argh!!!!
