LT1 cam and distributor gear?

If I am correct, the LO3 had flat tappet cams stock correct? If so, I need a complete hydraulic roller kit when I buy and LT1 right?

Also, do I need a different gear for my distributor? I heard the bronze piece isnt really reliable after a while, so would it just be easier to buy a MSD distributor or something?

What is the exact part from Holley for the 670 cfm TBI that fits on our cars? I cant find it on Summit. Thanks a lot!

Eric

Get the one rated for 5.0 L/305... that will tide you over quite nicely...

And if you're using a roller cam you need to use a bronze gear. Much better to wipe out a $25 bronze gear then a $200 cam.

Not true. Aftermarket and stock hydraulic roller cams require the melonized distributor gear not bronze.

If you're using a LO3 (like Tas said) from a Camaro/Firebird, then you can use the same distibutor that you have now. Those engines came with roller cams from the factory. An LT1 cam is a roller cam from the factory. No problem there.

Here's the link to Jeg's for the TBI.

It's for a GM truck, and IIRC, the TPS plug is a little different than ours (I'm not 100% sure about that. JPrevost is the one to ask). But other than that, it works fine (from what others have said).
