Code 54 on a TBI?

I am getting a code 54. Howver it is not all of the time, it is every 1 in 20 starts. Then I turn my car off and turn it back on and the light is off. I have the haynes manual, but it says the M/C soleniod is bad, but i don't have a M/C soleniod. So I searched around and found that it is the fuel pump relay circuit on a TPI engine, but is it the same on the TBI? If so, how can I go about fixing this?

Thanks for any and all help,
Kevin

I am having the same problem. Extremely hard starting - if it starts. Pull a code 54. Chiltons doesnt even list that code!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Also - Does anyone know anything about a "Fuel Pump/Oil Pressure Switch" Its on the same cuircut as the fuel Pump.... Maybe that could cause a problem???

I just got pissed that no one was helping me, so I went to a local shop and got them to replace the fuel pump, filter, and relay. It works great now.

Code 54 is for the fuel pump relay and oil pressure switch. They are on the same circuit from what I can tell. I had a problem with starting a while back and it was because of a faulty oil pressure switch. I guess it could have prevented the entire circuit from functioning properly. So I changed the switch, because it was bad, and the fuel pump relay, just to make sure and the problem was fixed.
