This Fuel problem is continuing!!!!! Need your help!! This is Rediculous!

K well heres the sinario, my car bogged out after 3 grand big time, almost like it was gonna die, so I thought it was the fuel pump but ended up being I had the Top of the Airlid off and it was sucking the Fire retardent Material down and getting No Air!!

Well I stuck a Inline in there from my buddy, he told me to put it on this way and it would start, we kept trying and trying and trying!! Well I took it off and found out he told me to put in on the wrong way, so it was pumping to the tank So I switched it, the car ran fine, but when its cold it would barely even go without flooding and once warmed up would have some acceleration, but you could see it was getting way too much fuel. I know took the inline off and the orginal pump still works but I try to start the car and it will run for like a sec then die out, then I crank it for like 5 to 10 secs, then it will run for a sec and die out!! What do you think is going on?????
