Torquer II intake question

A buddy of mine has a 85 custom deluxe with a 350 and hes about to ditch the edelbrock torquer intake (may be a torquer II im not positive) and I could get it for cheap. My question is would a single plane be better for TBI? I remember everyone saying a single plane and adapter works great with TBI. Think his intake + adapter would be better than my edlebrock TBI intake? Also his intake is the pre 87 but I plan on some world heads soon so ill just get the ones with the old style bolt pattern.

There are very few people on this board that run a single plane. Much has been discussed, so your best bet is to do a search. There was a very good TOTW on this a few months ago. IMO, go with the single plane, and through the cam in there as well. However, do your research-make sure you know exactly which manifold it is, and then make sure it will work for you, i.e. hood clearance, egr, vacuum ports, etc.

I'd just get the TBI intake manifold...the extra effort for the single plane isn't worth it, IMO. Money and time can be spent elsewhere (2400 stall).

I already have the TBI intake. But I can get the torquer for 25$ I may buy it anyway just to have. Hes ditching it for a dual plane because he think that the single plane intake is creating all his backfiring problems and crap Ive tried to explain what a backfire is to him but he just won't listen. Anyways if the torquer intake will do better with my planned setup I may use it. Plan is to get world torquer 305 heads and a zz4 cam. and alot of chip burning. I may need the extra volume with that setup plus i could get the adapter plate and use the holley tbi on it.

yeah...with better heads and a bigger cam, I'd say go with the Torquer II. Plan on lots of chip burning to get it right. I couldn't ever get the hang of the chip burning (I had a few mis-diagnosed problems that didn't help).

I thought about going carb but I don't know I like fuel injection. Plus switching to carb would put a nice hole in my pocket.
