I have a friend who is having start and idle problems on his 92 rs. He just rebuilt the engine and it is hard to start and doesn't want to idle. it runs fine off idle. This was a stock rebuild. He replaced the TBI with a different one. does not know what it came off of. he said when he adjusted the valves the dist was in backwards. i don't think that has anything to do with it. The dist was turned around. they say there is a loud sucking noise when running. They said there are no vac leaks. I think it is the TBI. Any advise?

 

Maybe the IAC isn't connected/working properly?
