From looking at your current et, I would think so. Headers and a stall converter will definetely help, and a posi in the rear could improve your excellent 60' time.

Headers and a torque converter should get you a little more thant the .54 you need for 14's. Your converter stalls right around 1400. An inexpensive torque converter choice would be the 95+ S10 4.3L converter that stalls at 2000rpm. That 600 rpms should keep that car in it's powerband and allow for an even better launch.

defintly headers .. thats one of the bigest power gainers you can do for the 305 . it might be enough just with those but a 2000 stall would hurt either..

If headers and a TC don't seal the deal, you might wanna try Underdrive pulleys for a little bit more power. The Ultimate TBI mods will gain you some power as well. There's always some time waiting in suspension. You can still make a huge improvement over your E.T. by taking out the stock suspension and throwing in some polyurethane. If that doesn't work, nitrous bolts on quite nicely

yeah the S10 converter is a bolt in deal and will run like stock just stalls 600 rpm higher. Computer doesn't care about the stall rating.

Does that 305 use the GM 187 heads and the LO3 cam like ours did from the factory?

You lost me on this but I think you think that an s10 came with a 305. If that's the case, and I'm not saying it is, then my reply would be "never was a v8 in an s10." The 4.3L v6 uses the same tranny bolt pattern and the same tranny. The TC stalls for the v6 at the same speed as a thirdgen's stock TC stalls for a v8. Since the v8 has more torque it makes the v6 (s10) TC stall higher than rated. It's not enough to cause any huge problems with heat but I'd recommend a tranny cooler from any automatic SHO's (fits like a glove) and you can find them at junkyards.
14's with bolt ons and never lifting the valve cover is easy so long as you don't mind filling up the N2o bottle every once in a while. Seriously though, why WOULDN'T you want to dig a little deaper and do a cam swap? The next best thing is to get better heads but that costs a lot more.

the s10 tcc has come up on the board before. its supposedly the same strength as the vette converter, yet had a higher stall speed. check around in some of the old posts, i thought i saw some more specs. it is a good idea, i was plannin on it til i ran outta money
