engine rebuild prices
hello, i need to kno how much can a engine rbuild go for?? i got a 87 firebird, 160,000 mile, v-8 305 automatic. runs strong engine doesnt shake much and no leaks?? wut is a decent price range for a rebuild. thanx

well, I was also asking this same question. I have done a lot of research and I think it really depends on 3 things.
1) Are you doing the work yourself?
2) Are you modifying things? I.E. Heads, cam, etc.
If you are going for a straight rebuild, I woud say you could get it done for about $500 if you did it yourself. But I think that is estimating a little low though. Better to guess high and be surprised.
As for having someone do it, that would probably add close to an extra grand. But I'm not sure...just an estimate.
