Timing Q's
Timing Q's
I've read the previous post about setting the timing, and I'm a little blurry. I know how to use a timing gun and all that, but they mention about disconnecting a "tan wire". Where is this wire located? Basically I disconnect the wire start the car, set the timing to 0, turn off the car and re-connect the tan wire. Is that right?
Thanks

the timing connector is int he wire loom above the heater box in the engine compartment. Just disconnect the connector and set the timing to whatever the sticker says ont he inderside of the hood.
Why keep it stock? Id go ahead and add a couple degrees. With the EST disconnected and the timing set at 0 degrees my car sounds AWESOME. Soon as you reconnect the EST tho the timing jumps way up and make it sound much different. At 0 degrees mine sounds like I have a massive cam for some reason.

cuz, its retarted more. disconnect it, start the car, set it to like 4 degrees turn off the car, connect the wire. play with the timing, it can help.
Mine seems to really like 12 degrees advance but I dont leave it there. Im pretty sure its pinging at that high of advance. Although the computer susposedly adjusts the timing to get rid ping and knock. I usually put it at 4-5 and its happy. The computer on these cars will advance or retard the timing up t 12 degrees to getr rid of ping or knock.
