lt4 hot cam kit

Im wanting to put the lt4 hot cam kit in my lo5. will stock vortec heads be allright with this? If not what whould i need too do too them. The kit comes with cam and 1.6 rockers

Axle/Gears: 3.42 Zexel posi 7.5" rear
Unless I am mistaken the Vortec heads have the same "stock" valve lift restriction as the TBI engines of around .480". The LT4 hot cam with the 1.6 rockers is .525" which would require having the heads machined and using different springs. You might also be close to the point of pushing the intake valve into the side of the cylinder wall. I forget what that lift number is but I read it on this site.

What if i get the zz5 vortec heads? That will accommodate up to .550.of lift

Your stock TBI computer will absolutely hate that cam, so dont even think about it. Try a ZZ4 cam instead.
