newbie here got an idea

found a guy near me with a 327 for sale at a decent price
and in decent condition
i was thinking the trickflow heads, with maybe either a hot cam or lt1 cam w/ tbi performer manifold would make some nice power correct me if i'm wrong. hoping for a good deal more than the 305 has now.

if i can get it i'll be lt1+performer manifold on 305 for now.
hey JP how did that tuning session go?

e-mail me.

P.S.
Yes i know it will require some major chip programming to run a "stock" ecm. what else though.

You would be better off with a late model 350 block than to try to make the 327 work. First the 327 is a very pre 87 block and won't have provisions for roller lifters for the LT1 or LT4 roller cam that you are wanting to use requires the expensive aftermarket retrofit roller rockers. Also, the flywheel/flexplate is different on the pre 86 engines. Lastly that is a very stout cam that the used in their 400hp build and would be near to impossible to get running correctly with TBI. Also the intake they used appears to be somewhat beefier than the Edelbrock performer intake. Your proposed combo would probably yield closer to the 300hp engine than the 400hp one.

Will depend a lot on the mileage on your 305 and the price of the 327.

If your close to or over the 100k mark, investing a $1000+ in heads and cam may not be the wisest decision.

I would recommend that you search www.car-part.com for a 96+ 350 Truck engine with decent mileage. They can be found for $700-$800. That engine has the Vortec heads and roller cam. Then you can go with a new intake and the LT1 cam and make at or above 300hp with headers and exhaust for reasonable money. There will be a lot of tuning involved with either setup. So please allow a $150-200 for WINALDL setup so you can tune that beast. Getting more than the 300-330hp out of TBI car requires a lot more tuning and a lot more expensive parts than this combo.
