Set my car back to base timing?

How do I adj the car so it goes back to base timing. I finally put everything back in but the car runs really bad. Here's what I added to the car:

Crane cam .454/.454 218/218 dur
New lifters
New timing Chain set strait up
Hardend pushrods
Chevy 350 heads, milled, and ported and polished
High lift springs
Edlebrock Preformer intake
STOCK tbi
Headmen shorty headers and y - pipe
160 thermo

thats about it. I set the timimg to 12º, but I could tell the car was very retarded. So it's jacked up a litter higher now, no pinging, but still runs like it's very retarded. I never did anything to set the computer to base timing?? I'm not sure how this is done??? On my mustang there is a spout connecter, but I don't know of anything like this for my camaro???

What the car does is it feels fine till about 2.5k, then it just falls on it's face. shifts to the next gears even thought i have it floored. If I put it in first gear, it does the same thing, but once it hits like 2.5k, falls on it's face and slowly climbs it way up.

The car does have a intake leak right now, it's not a huge leak or anything, will be fixing it tomorrow. And no 0/2 sensor. Just had the fitting welded onto my headers today so I can put one on, which i will do tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure it's the timing, so my main question is how do i tell the computer to set it to base?

K, Just installed my 0/2 sensor and that seemed to help alot. Maybe I'll get more then like 5MPG now....

I also pulled the Brown/black wire and checked my timing, still seems kinda high...Maybe the cam is off a bit? either way, I put some more timing in it, and it drove a ton better.....I think a little more and she will be perfect!

I swapped out my 305 to a 355 and kept the TBI unit. I had the wrong cam in it because the LSA (lobe seperation angle) was 2 degrees less than I needed. If you have a intake vaccum leak thats going to hurt you because your computer is going to think that the pedal is pushed down therefore throwing in more fuel killing your motor. I am not real sure as to where your timing should be because it sounds like you are on the right track with the black/white distributor wire. However, you want at least 112 degress LSA to run off a computer. Check your cam card. Hope this helps.

different combo's will need more time then the base timing with the stock chip. Teh timing curves are really conservative so itll run like dookey unless you give the engine more base timing. FYI im running with 20+ degrees of advance (off the tab so i dont know what it is for sure) with my engine.
