While i've got it apart...

Well, i have been thinking about going ahead and putting that stroker kit from powerhouse in my 305, and that isn't my question, in general, while i have the engine apart, would it be a good idea to put studs in the bottom end and a windage tray? along with a crank scraper maybe? Anyone had any experience with this? i did a search and didnt' really find any info on it. Is this worth while? i saw a kit in one of the catalogs (summit, jegs?) for around 50 bucks or so with a tray, baffle, and scraper from moroso i think.

thanks guys,
MIke

The windage trays and scrappers are definatly worth the money! Be ready to modify the scrapper and make sure the windage tray is good for a 400 block.

I am not sure why i would need it to fit a 400 block? anyway, i was wondering what woudl be the best type of tray? the screen type? or the louvered kind?

thanks
Mike

The reason that ya need it for the 400 block is so that it will acomadate the longer stroke you will have with the stroker kit. If you dont stroke the motor then the standard 350 one will surfice. The only problem that I see with this is that the scraper isnt really going to do much for ya till ya hit alot higher RPMs than you will be running. Scrappers wont do much for ya till around 6500 RPM but then again every little bit will help in the quest for free power. Good luck with ya decission on this.
