Cam selection w/ stock chip?
I'm looking to do a cam swap in my 91RS. I want a decent powerband that runs to 5000-5500 RPM.I will be running a 4barrell dual plane w/ tbi adapter and slightly ported 416's and will probably step up to 3.42 gears. The cam will have to work w/ stock chip cuz I'm just not ready to pull my hair out and go broke trying to learn how to burn chips. The cam doesnt have to be roller cuz I have a low mileage 305 non-roller that I am thinking of swapping in, not sure yet. Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated.:lala:

lol, go broke burning your eproms, HAHAHAHA, yeah right. $200 for all the good stuff, $140 for the minimal compared to $1000+ aftermarket systems, hmmm.....
Any cam mild enough will be computer friendly. It won't run at it's potential but it will run well enough that you won't have idle troubles. Just keep the duration low and the lobe sep higher than 112. The lift isn't as much a factor but even that can effect the vacuum signal. Stock eprom, lt1 cam is the biggest I'd go if I didn't burn my own eproms. If you did burn your own you could easily squeeze an XE268 cam in with little difficulty.

Well, I'm on somewhat of a budget and I've priced all of the equipment and it came out more than $200, but that is the easy part. I'm not that comp. literate and I think I would have a hard time with it but I would be willing to try if I knew I wasn't throwing my money away.
