you 14x3 is fine .......... a 14x4 wont do anything more for you. I know that a 14x3 non drop base and 1/2" spacer will fit under the stock hood. If you go anohter 1/2" .. i think that it may start tapping on the hood when the engine is running or even crush it..... im just guessing.
